Do you take insurance, and how do I book?
G&B accepts several plans. Self-pay, Medicare (Original Medicare and UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage, managed by Optum), Optum/UnitedHealthcare, and Med-QUEST (fee-for-service and the UnitedHealthcare Community Plan) book directly with G&B. HMSA, Cigna, Aetna, Carelon Behavioral Health, and Curative book through Headway. Medicare Advantage networks vary by plan; please confirm with your plan that G&B is in-network. See the Insurance page for details. Coverage depends on your specific plan — please check your benefits with your insurer.
Do you offer telehealth?
Yes. Telehealth is available by secure video for patients physically located in Hawaiʻi at the time of the visit, on any island. In-person visits are in Nuʻuanu, Honolulu.
What ages do you see?
Children (ages 3+), teens, adults, and older adults (kūpuna). For straightforward concerns such as anxiety, separation anxiety, and adjustment difficulties, children are seen from age 3. ADHD evaluations for children start at age 6; younger children with attention concerns can be seen for a general evaluation and referred as needed. Complex developmental questions, including autism evaluation, are referred to specialists.
Is a psychiatric nurse practitioner the same as a psychiatrist?
No. Kimberly Gibu is a board-certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC), not a psychiatrist or physician. A psychiatric nurse practitioner (PMHNP) evaluates, diagnoses, and prescribes for mental health conditions. In Hawaiʻi, PMHNPs with prescriptive authority practice independently.
Do you offer a free consultation call?
Yes — a brief call to see if we’re a good fit. Call or text (808) 202-2855 to set one up. It isn’t a clinical consultation, just a quick check that we’re the right fit for you. Self-pay fees are listed on the Fees page, and self-pay patients receive a Good Faith Estimate and a superbill on request.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours before the appointment. The first late cancellation or no-show is ordinarily waived at G&B’s discretion. After that, a $99 late-cancellation/no-show fee may apply where your coverage rules allow it. G&B never charges this fee to Med-QUEST (Medicaid) members. For patients using other insurance, the fee applies only where the plan’s rules permit it, and it is charged to the patient, not billed to insurance.
How soon will I hear back, and how do I reach you?
Please allow 2–5 business days for a response to non-urgent messages. For a faster response, call or text (808) 202-2855. Please don’t share health details by email or the web form — these are not secure channels.
Ready to begin?
New clients are welcome — in person in Honolulu or by telehealth anywhere in Hawaiʻi, in English or Tagalog.
