Depression Treatment in Honolulu & Across Hawaiʻi

Compassionate, practical care for depression — in person in Nuʻuanu or by telehealth across Hawaiʻi.

G&B Integrative Psychiatry treats depression in Honolulu (Nuʻuanu) and by telehealth across Hawaiʻi with Kimberly Gibu, DNP, PMHNP-BC. Care pairs psychotherapy with, when appropriate, medication — personalized to you, in English or Tagalog.

What it can feel like

Depression can feel like a heavy low mood, a loss of interest in things you used to enjoy, low energy, changes in sleep or appetite, trouble concentrating, or a harsh inner voice. Hard stretches happen to everyone; depression is when that weight lingers and dims daily life. Only an evaluation can tell whether what you’re going through is depression.

Who it’s for

What to expect

The first visit is a 60-minute evaluation to understand your story and your goals. From there we build a plan and adjust it around how you actually feel, with follow-ups in person or by video.

How G&B approaches it

Depression is treatable. At G&B, care often combines psychotherapy — such as behavioral activation, cognitive behavioral therapy, or interpersonal therapy — with attention to sleep, movement, and daily structure. Medication options are discussed after a full evaluation.

Insurance & fees

Self-pay fees are listed on the Fees page. Self-pay, Medicare, Optum/UHC and Med-QUEST book directly with G&B; HMSA, Cigna, Aetna, Carelon Behavioral Health and Curative book through Headway. See Insurance & How to Book. Coverage depends on your specific plan — please check your benefits with your insurer.

Common questions

How do I know if it’s depression or just a rough patch?

A rough patch usually lifts; depression tends to linger and dim daily life. An evaluation can help sort it out.

Will I have to be on medication forever?

Not necessarily. If medication is part of your plan, how long is a decision made together over time — and medication options are discussed after a full evaluation.

Can I be seen by telehealth?

Yes, for patients located in Hawaiʻi at the time of the visit.

What if I’m having thoughts of harming myself?

If you’re in crisis, call or text 988 or dial 911 now. In ongoing care, we can also build a safety plan together.
