Stress & Burnout: Care in Honolulu & Across Hawaiʻi

Help before you run on empty — in person in Nuʻuanu or by telehealth, with evening and weekend options.

G&B Integrative Psychiatry offers care for stress and burnout in Honolulu (Nuʻuanu) and by telehealth across Hawaiʻi with Kimberly Gibu, DNP, PMHNP-BC, in English or Tagalog — including evening and weekend appointments.

What it can feel like

Burnout can feel like running on empty: exhaustion that sleep doesn’t fix, growing cynicism or detachment, and a sense that nothing you do is enough. Chronic stress can spill into your sleep, mood, and body. Burnout isn’t a formal diagnosis, but it’s real and worth addressing — and only an evaluation can tell whether something like anxiety or depression is also part of the picture.

Who it’s for

What to expect

The first visit is a 60-minute evaluation to understand what’s draining you and what would actually help. We set realistic goals and follow up in person or by video, with evening and weekend windows available.

How G&B approaches it

Care often centers on psychotherapy — problem-solving therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and behavioral activation — along with boundaries, recovery, and attention to sleep and daily life. If anxiety or depression is involved, medication options are discussed after a full evaluation.

Insurance & fees

Self-pay fees are listed on the Fees page. Self-pay, Medicare, Optum/UHC and Med-QUEST book directly with G&B; HMSA, Cigna, Aetna, Carelon Behavioral Health and Curative book through Headway. See Insurance & How to Book. Coverage depends on your specific plan — please check your benefits with your insurer.

Common questions

Is burnout a real thing I can get help for?

Yes. Even though it isn’t a formal diagnosis, the exhaustion and detachment are real, and support helps.

I can only come after work — is that possible?

Yes. Evening appointments run Tuesday through Friday, plus Saturday and Sunday windows.

Do I need medication for stress?

Often not. Care starts with what’s driving the stress; if anxiety or depression is involved, options are discussed after a full evaluation.

Can I be seen by telehealth?

Yes, for patients located in Hawaiʻi at the time of the visit.
